My real mom

I am not sure how to write this next blog but I feel like I need to. I was born to biological mother Veda Raven Miles. She was born in Oklahoma . Her mother was named Lura Morrill and her father name is Leon Raven.
My mother was a different child is from what I was told. I am not sure of her personal history because I didn't get to know her much because I didn't growing up with her. My mother told me once she valued her relationship with her mother and her family. She looks a lot like me is what I have been told.
I never got to know her family growing up...her brothers or cousins. In the past years, I have got in connecting with her brother Errol and cousins. It has been a real thrill to get to know this long lost family I haven't really known. I don't know many stories about my mom except for the ones I was apart of which weren't the best part of my life. My mom had a mental illness called Paranoid Schizophrenic. Back then and even to this day mental illness brought shame to family. I think it was a trail for my mom and her family..including me. Its not a shameful things to have mental illness. I know she was loved by her family and mother. She died in 2008 after she had broken a hip. I look forward to the day I can meet her and really get to know my mother.

My birthday Get-away

For a treat Christina and I made a tradition of going away for my birthday weekend which happen to be on this last weekend. Christina is my sister and my best friend I enjoy all the time I get to spend with her. Traditions mean a lot to me because I have always felt like I have lacked them as apart of my life growing up. Its also a great plus on getting a break of being mom...
One of the best placed we have gone to is a Bed and Breakfast in Payson called Falcon Crest. We have got to know the owners Linda and Alan. They treat us like family. They are great at spoiling us by serving us which is great being a mom because it all we do but serve our families.
This year it started to snow while we were up in Payson which was a beautiful sight cause it has been a while since I have been in the snow.
Here is one of the view of the cabins. We stayed in their main house. We spent out time watching movies in their theater and playing games with Linda and Alan. We sure had a lot of fun!

Valentine's Day 2011

I got a big surprise today from my son Jordan. He wrote me a Valentine from his Spanish class. He told me his teacher wanted them to do it. I am glad his teacher gave such good assignment.
This is what his Valentine said.... Querda Madre,
This may not be a whole lot, but I thought you deserved it. I am thankful for everything you do, I try my best to help out with the kids and the house. It must be hard being a single parent while raising five kids. Just know that even when we may not get along all of the time that I love you.
Happy Valentine's day!
Your son,
Jordan
His words touch my heart. He such a good kid. He is a good big brother and help out all the time which I appreciate more than he knows. I guess, he made me realize I need to share more with my son of my appreciation.
